The goal is to reduce long-term risks associated with high myopia, such as retinal detachment or glaucoma.
Myopia is the fastest growing disease in the world. It is estimated by 2050, half of the world population will be nearsighted. 1 in every 10 people will have high myopia. Recent researches indicated patient with high myopia will have significant increased risk of eye disease such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts.

Contact Lenses:
Myopia control contact lenses are specially designed lenses that help slow the progression of nearsightedness in children. They work by altering how light focuses on the retina, usually creating a treatment zone that reduces the stimulus for eye growth. Types include:
- Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) – Rigid lenses worn overnight to reshape the cornea temporarily.
- Soft Contact Lenses – Worn during the day, these have different focus zones to control eye growth.
Atropine Program:
Atropine eye drops for myopia control involve using low-dose atropine (typically 0.01% to 0.05%) once daily, usually at bedtime. The drops help slow the elongation of the eyeball, which is the main cause of myopia progression. This treatment is non-invasive, generally well-tolerated, and monitored regularly by an eye care professional to assess effectiveness and adjust dosage if needed.
